Whole-Home Humidifier Installation

If your home runs dry from October through April, we’ll fix it. A whole-home humidifier connects to your furnace and water line, adding the right amount of moisture to your heated air and holding it in the ideal range automatically.

The payoff is immediate: relief from dry skin, irritated sinuses, and static, plus protection for your hardwood floors, furniture, and instruments. Moist air even feels warmer, so you can lower the thermostat and save on heating.

We install bypass, fan-powered, and steam humidifiers sized to your home. For a deeper look at the options, see our whole-house humidifier installation page.

Whole-Home Dehumidifier Installation

When Chicago summers turn hot and sticky, a whole-home dehumidifier takes back control. It integrates with your HVAC system, automatically pulls excess moisture from every room, and drains itself, with no tanks to empty.

That means no more musty basement, no more clammy air, and no more mold or mildew taking hold. By removing humidity, it also makes your home feel cooler at a higher thermostat setting, easing the load on your air conditioner and lowering cooling bills.

Your AC removes some moisture, but rarely enough, especially in basements and crawlspaces, which is exactly where a dedicated dehumidifier proves its worth.

Whole-Home vs. Portable Units

Portable units only treat one room, need constant refilling or emptying, and run noisily. They’re a stopgap.

A whole-home system integrates with your HVAC to treat every room evenly and automatically, quieter, more efficient, and hands-off, drawing water from your plumbing or draining outside on its own. For consistent, whole-house comfort, it’s the clear upgrade, and it pairs perfectly with a smart thermostat for precise control.

Our Installation & Maintenance

We make adding humidity control simple. Our technician evaluates your HVAC system and moisture challenges, recommends the right unit, integrates it into your forced-air setup, connects the water or drain line, and tests it through full cycles. Most installs are done in a few hours.

To keep it running, we recommend servicing your humidifier each fall with your furnace tune-up, and your dehumidifier each spring with your AC maintenance. Pairing humidity control with an air purifier gives you the healthiest possible air year-round.

Signs You Need Humidity Control

Your home tells you when the balance is off. We can help if you’re seeing any of these.

Too dry (winter):

  • Dry skin, chapped lips, and frequent static shocks
  • Irritated sinuses, sore throats, or lingering colds
  • Cracking or gapping in hardwood floors and furniture

Too humid (summer):

  • A musty, damp smell, especially in the basement
  • Condensation on windows and clammy, sticky air
  • Visible mold or mildew and worsening allergies

The ideal indoor humidity sits between 30% and 50%. If your home swings outside that range, we’ll measure it and recommend the right fix.

A Reputation Built on Trust and Quality

I called Browns late Tuesday during a heatwave, and they were able to schedule a service appointment for the next day. The service call cost $125, but that amount goes towards any repair cost if needed so the initial call is essentially free if you need service costing more than $125.

The techs arrived exactly on time at the start of the appointment window, and quickly found the issues (dirty condenser coils, refrigerant top-off, and system sealant to address the small leak). Ramond clearly explained the impact of each along with the cost to fix, then confirmed which services I wanted and what my total would be before starting the work. I also appreciate that Ramond answered all my dumb questions about how air conditioning actually works; he's a great science teacher 🤓.

The cost was less than I expected for a next-day service (coil cleaning $239, sealant $285, and a few pounds of refrigeratant was $370).

During the payment process, the tech didn't prompt for a tip, unlike most companies. So don't forget to ask them for their Zelle/Venmo if you want to send a tip
Quick responses from a professional company. Although it was peak season for AC’s, they were able to send a crew over within 24-hours. This was so critical for us with 3 young kids in the house and the temps rising to 85 degrees.

Angelique on the phone gave clear instructions on what I needed to do before the service guys showed up. Ramod & Eric were courteous and wore shoe covers as they entered the house. They took a quick look and knew what needed to be done immediately.

As a Realtor, I’ve changed many an AC units and their prices were very fair. We ended up repairing instead of a new AC unit. The repair was less than what he originally quoted. How is that for honest service?! Amazing!

They will have to come back for a service ($99) as we ran out of time.

I can highly recommend Browns Heating & Cooling without any hesitation.

Obsessed 10/10. So friendly, really responsive company, cute service techs (big plus haha), honest, fast and reliable. They were literally here the next day. Love them, hate my 30 year old furnace.

Highly recommend these guys. We had a cooling issue, and Steven was here and gone in under an hour. He pointed out the issue and repaired it without talking much.

Highly recommend them! We needed a whole house humidifier because the winter air was making everyone in the house feel sick. The installation was very clean, and they tied it right into the water line without any leaks or issues. The technician showed me how to adjust the humidity level based on the temperature outside, so we don't get condensation on the windows. It's made the house feel much more comfortable, and my skin isn't nearly as dry as it used to be. I’m happy with the service.

I decided to upgrade to a Nest thermostat and scheduled the installation with this company. The technician arrived on time and installed the thermostat quickly. He also walked me through the settings and showed me how to control it through the phone app. The system now adjusts the temperature automatically during the day, which is convenient. It has made managing the indoor temperature much easier. The team from Brown’s handled the installation smoothly and made sure everything was working before leaving.
